24/100 and multiply by the number u want to decrease 24 by

for example 24% of 20 =

[tex] \frac{24 \times 20}{100} [/tex]

which = 480 and u divide that by 100 which is 4.8

Divide the percentage by 100 so 24/100 is 0.24 so if you want to find out 24% of 40 you do 40 times 0.24 which is 9.6
