Arrange them from lowest to highest:
It would be: 2,3,4,8,9
Range = Highest number - Lowest number 
Range = 9 - 2 = 7
So, your answer is 7

Take the smallest and the largest number, subtract to get the range:
9-2= 7. Your range is 7.
