A bat and ball cost a dollar and ten cents. the bat costs a dollar more than the ball. how much does the ball cost?

The bat would cost one dollar and five cents and the ball would cost five cents. The reason is, you have to add them together and any higher or any lower would go over the limit of one dollar and ten cents
